Her husband was the eldest son of Archbishop Edwin S a n d y s by his second wife, Cicely, dau. (by a second mar ri ag e ) o f the Thomas Wilford who had married Elizabeth , si st e r of W illiam Culpeper10.

By this marriage Mercy Culpeper was included in the in n e r m ost circle of the founders of Virginia. Her husban d , lo n g M .
