JOHN WM. DODSON PASSES AWAY

John William Dodson, for many years a highly respected and much loved citizen of this community passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alex Johnson, Monday evening, August 29, at 6:45 P.M. He has been in failing health for two years. While his death was not unexpected, still it is a great shock to his loved ones and friends. For the past eight weeks he had been bedfast.

John William Dodson, son of Robert William and Mary Frances (Sugg) Dodson, was born in Carroll County, August 22, 1872, and at the time of his death was 77 years and 7 days of age. In early life he united with the Austin Chapel Church. He was a faithful member as long as his health would permit.

February 3, 1898 he was united in marriage to Lenora Hart, who preceded him in death January 6, 1931. To this union the following children were born: Mrs. Izora Hook of Norborne, Mo., Mrs Earnest Dodson of Coloma, Mo., Mr. Ralph Dodson of Salida, CO., Mrs Alex Johnson of near Braymer, Mo.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and one great grandson, William Lewis Rankin of Braymer. Two step-granchildren, also a host of other relateives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Mrs. Betty Isom, three half sisters and a half brother. Eva Glaze, Ida Shirley, Jesse Block and Sam Block.

Again we hope to meet him
When the day of life is fled, And in Heaven with joy to greet him
Where no farewell tears are shed.

Pall Bearers were: James Hart, Gerald Hart, Roy Isom,Nelson Little, Paul Bradshaw, Orvile Wampler, Flower girls were Melba Berning, Norma Johnson, Edna Isom, Cora Little, Mildred Waitman and Veronia Wampler.

Funeral services were held at Mandeville Methodist Church. Conducted by Rev Chas. Johnson. Burial at Ebenezer Cemetery, west of Bogard
