John Downynge is the first record of this line.  The genealogy was assembled in 1901 and 1903 by John Perot of Ardmore, Pennsylvania, from the parish records o Bradninch, Devonshire, England, and made available by Charles Crosleigh, Vicar of Bradninch.   Earlier records were destroyed in a fire that partially destroyed the church.

John Downynge's widow (name unknown) was buried August 2, 1623. Historical Note:  John Downynge was born during the reign of Henry VIII. One source note in the files indicates he served as Mayor of Bradninch in 1555.[Downing.ged]
