Elmer was married and had a son, Jimmy.  A note in the Humboldt "Union" dated April 2, 1952, states:

" Jimmy Redfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Redfield, was striken with spinal menegitis Sunday night at Hickory, NC.  The family was enroute to Madison, NJ. Jimmy is at a hospital at Winston-Salem, NC, where doctors report he is showing signs of improvement.  Mrs. G. A. Redfield, the child's grandmother, received the news here Tuesday night.  The Redfields were at Hickory visiting Mr. and Mr.s G. W. McCreary when the illness struck."

Info on marriage of Elmer has not been found as of 5-1-98.[Downing.ged]

Elmer was married and had a son, Jimmy.  A note in the Humboldt "Union" dated April 2, 1952, states: " Jimmy Redfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Redfield, was striken with spinal menegitis Sunday night at Hickory, NC.  The family was enroute to Madison, NJ.

It was applied for on September 16, 1940, and shows him working at the Carter Carburator Corporation in St. Louis, MO. Descendent Jim Redfield states the following:
   "Elmer went to school in St. Louis at the Carter Carburator Corporation. While working for his father in the garage, a Carter Carburator salesman liked him and offered him the training.  They paid him for the three weeks he was in school.  That trip also doubled as a honemoon for my parents!"

Sarah's first marriage was in the Baptist Parsonag e .  R e v . J. F. Parker preformed the ceremony at 10:00p m .  Eldo r a C arter (Leora's mother) and Mrs. J. F. Pard e r were wit ne sses .  Sarah wore a light blue Crepe dress.

Sarah's 2nd marriage was at St. Lukes Methodist Episc o p a l C hurch Parsonage with Rev. Carl F. Bader officiati n g .  W itne sses were A.J. Wright, and Pearl Wright, Sara h ' s broth er an d his wife. Sarah wore a Brown Crepe dre s s .  Fifty-t hree d ays after marrying Homer Duling, Sar a h wa s shot in t he hea d at approximately 5:00am on Jul y 2 3, 19 22 while liv ing a t 1032 Lake Street in Lincoln , Neb raska .  There are s evera l newspaper clippings avai labl e abou t this event an d the fo llowing trial.  Home r was a ccuse d of doing the sho oting. Sa rah divorced Hom er.

Services held after Sarah's death were held at the Apfe l - B u tler-Geddes Funeral Home at Grand Island, Nebrask a .  Re v . D onald Jones officiated. Soloist was Jean Prei se ndorf , o rgan ist was Mrs. Betty Powell.  Sarah died o f lu ng can cer .  Wil liam Scoggins may have a photo of he r hea dstone . Sar ah is b uried in Ashland, Nebraska.

According to Doug Miller, "Sarah was a blazing red h e a d w h o smoked Pall Mall cigarettes and drank beer an d w a s a ha r d worker." He lived with her during the summ e r o f 1970 af te r he got out of the service. A descripti o n o f Sarah fro m h er grand-daughter Deborah Rollf (Bure sh ) in cludes the f act s that she like to cook, drink, an d s moke . She was kin d, l oving, and grandmotherly.  Debo ra h als o describes he r as sh ort and chubby with long, s hou lder l ength hair an d glasses.
