Charles enlisted (Spanish American War) June 18, 1898 and was disch. Oct.4, 1898.
RECORDS FROM THE THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES IN WASHINGTON STATE HIS LAST KNOWN ADDRESS AS "7-25-47 SOLDIERS ADDRESS-GEN'L DEL. FORT NEAL BRANCH, PARKERSBURG, WV"
Wherever he died(?) no one knew what to do with body. Charles had not had contact with his ex-wife, Gladys, or sons by her, Clifford and Howard, since the sons left for WWII. No one even knew where he was, not even his sons. But someone(?) contacted my Uncle Cliff. So he said to ship the body to Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., IA for burial. Charles and Gladys had lived in Waterloo, and one son was still there.
