Died on her passage to Scotland. There followed a violent competition for the vacant throne, between the descendants of David, Earl of Huntingdon (David 1), namely: John Balliol, Robert Bruce & John Lord Hastings. Edward 1 of England declared John Baliol as King in 1292. The death of Margaret left Scotland without a Monarch and at the mercy of Edward I.
