Information subitted by Ruby Rouse, 13 March 1991: There is a story that Mary wed a man from up north and they had a son. One time the husband and son came to my grandmothers for a visit and the husband said Mary had died, but when he left the boy to go into town, the little boy said his father had killed his mother and threw her in the river. When his father returned from town, my grandmother asked him about it. Of course he denied it, but he took the little boy and left and neither was heard from again.
