General Notes (Husband)

[bobspu.ged]

Elijah was a very early settler who lived and died on the farm that Murley, the first settler, was buried on, according to Hilleary F. Willison. In or about 1781, Elijah Robinett, it seems, resided in Cumberland Valley Twp, Bedford Co, PA as appears from the following record:

'Associators and Militia - County of Bedford'

'The Third Company of the First Battalion of Bedford County Militia commanded by Capt. Evan Cissna. Included: Charles Wals, Elijah Robinet, John Spurgon, etc.'

Elijah Robinett is not listed on any of the extant tax lists for Bedford County, PA. It is possible that he met Ann Farmer while there, as mentioned above. He may have joined the company and still been living on his father's place on Murley's Branch, in adjoining Flintstone District of Allegany County, MD. In 1803 he inherited all of his father's lands and the Plantation at Murley's Branch.

Elijah Robinette Sr. was living in 1828, but the time of his death is uncertain. His name was listed on the Committee of Vigilance in Flintstone District for that year.

General Notes (Wife)

[bobspu.ged]

The Will of Ann Farmer Robinett, drawn 9 June 1832, probated on 13 Aug 1833, lists the following children: George Farmer who is named executor, Priscilla Robinett Harris, Ruth Robinett Chaney, Zella Robinett Wilson, Anna Robinett, Rachel Robinett, and Catherine Robinett Danison. See Allegany County Wills, Cumberland Court House.

The date of probate of the Will of Ann Farmer Robinett was 10 May 1833. She probably was the daughter of John Farmer of Cumberland Valley Twp, Bedford Co, PA who was said to have been there as early as 1775.

Ann Farmer was the sister of Camelia Farmer, who married John Willison who was paternal grandfather of Hilleary F. Willison of Flintstone, Allegany Co, MD, who was related to the Robinetts wand was a correspondent of Allin P. Robinett from 1915 to 1925.

General Notes for Child Abijah Robinett

[bobspu.ged]

According to the History of Tuscarawas County, Ohio, Abijah Robinet was one of the foremost citizens of Rush Twp, and was there before 1808. In the 1860 Census, he was listed as 82 years old, therefore he was born in 1778.

In 1801, Abijah purchased a tract of land in Allegany Co, MD called "Potato Hollow". According to Allegany County records, Liber F, pg 193, 1811, Abijah Robinette of Tuscarawas Co, Ohio sold to Robert Morrow, tract "Potato Hollow"; appeared Hannah, wife of Abijah. In 1832, Allegany Co. MD Book Q, p. 218, Abijah Robinette of Tuscarawas Co, Oh deeded to David McElfish his share of his father's estate.

Abijah is found in Nottingham Twp, Harrison Co, Ohio in 1820. In 1830, he is in Rush Twp. He is still there in 1840 and 1850. In the later Census he has apparently two grandchildren, Abijah, age 14, and Sarah, age 7, living with him.

General Notes for Child Elizathan (Elizophr) Robinett

[bobspu.ged]

Loudermilk's "History of Cumberland", page 296, lists Elizophr Robinett among the privates of Capt. McLaughlin's Company, 50th Regiment, that went to Baltimore on 11 Aug 1814 and served until 13 Oct 1814.

Elizathan is shown on the 1820 Census for Allegany Co, MD with wife and one son. According to Land Office Records, Annapolis, MD GGG #1 pg.555, Elizathan Robinet, 1834,17 1/2 acres, Walnut Ridge.

By 1840 Elizathan had migrated west to Bearfield Twp, Perry County, Ohio. In the 1840 Census, he had one daughter 20-30.

He is shown in the Liberty Twp, Fairfield Co., Ohio in the 1850 Census as 69 years of age.
