BIO: Although she gives no details, Mrs. McCARTY reports that Elisha and Beatrice ALLEN divorced. In her anecdotal reports on the members of the ELDER family, Eva McCARTY writes, "Cause of death unknown...found dead under Clinton River railroad bridge. Don't know if he was killed and placed there, or as he was bad to hobo, he may have missed his jump." In later notes written on group sheets sent by compiler for approval, Eva McCARTY writes, "Elisha ELDER - Found dead on the banks of the Clinch River under the RR tressel in Clinton, TN.  Death unknown - He liked to hobo the trains. Some think he may have missed calculating his jump, but family thinks he was murdered and put there.  I don't know, because he didn't immediately die, because the grass was mashed down where he had rolled around." Mrs. McCARTY adds that Elisha and Beatrice had no children.
