BIOGRAPHY: Dad was the one who was responsible for getting me interested in genealogy.. I think it was his lifetime hobby. Mother was also interested, as was Aunt Gladys Whittington Thomas. Dad's interest might have sprung from the fact that his father died when he was only five years old, and apparently he did not know who his Grandfather Fitzpatrick was.
     He spent most of his life in Atlanta, GA, living at 1007 Belleview Drive, then at 1088 Rosewood Drive in northeast Atlanta. He was a manufacturer's representative for electrical appliance companies, notably the Silex Co., Hamilton Beach and several others. He was a gregarious, honest, sensitive man with a quick temper, but who didn't hold a grudge. He had a great sense of humor. He also had a strong sense of loyalty, especially to his family. He shared the usual biases held by most southerners of his time, particularly those who lived in Sherman's path during the Civil War, or War Between the States, as it is called in the south. General Notes (Wife)



Mother was raised in Atlanta, on Highland Avenue near St. Charles  St. in the neighborhood called Morningside. Her family moved to the corner of Highland and Rosewood Drive, and after having lived in Detroit and Coral Gables FL, the family moved to 1007 Belleview Drive, one block from grandfather Thomas' house. We later moved to 1088 Rosewood Drive, where we lived when my sister, Mary Charles was born.
     My mother's mother died when Mom was a freshman at Randolph Macon College, in Lynchburg, VA. She had to return to take over the management of the family. Mom was firm, strong willed, hard working, ambitious, and expected the best from us. She, like Dad had a great sense of humor, she had to I guess. She was shrewd, and a canny investor. The older I get, the more I love and respect her.
