In "John Rogers of Marshfield" (p p . 1 5, 16) it is said that Mary1 Rogers (John1) married J oh n Ro use, Jr., in 1666 and died soon after, without issu e ; on pa ge 15 is mentioned a receipt of Mary's sister, A n n (Rogers ) (Russell) Hudson to her brother John2 Roger s fo r her port ion of their father's estate. This receipt , date d 4 Februar y, 1674/5, is recorded in the Plymouth C olony D eeds, Volum e IV, Page 39, and on the same page o f the orig inal records , but evidently overlooked by the c ompiler o f the genealogy , is found the following receipt , which sho ws that Mary wa s alive on 13/23 November, 1674 , and was th e wife of Nathan iel Fox. John Rouse, Jr., wa s then living , and two months l ater, 13/23 January, 1674/ 5, he marrie d Elizabeth2 Doty (Ed ward1). This receipt is of especial interest as it also disprov e s t he claim that Mary1 Rogers (John1) was the Mary Roge r s wh o married John2 Phinney (John1) The latter's wife w a s Mary 3 Rogers (Joseph2, Thomas1).
