Death: in a head-on collision with an oil-field pickup at 90 mph relative speed. Second wife Maude was killed instantly; Fred lived 9 hours; young driver of pickup was burned in the pickup. The pickup crossed into Fred's lane. Fred was taken to Woodward Hospital and then on to St. Mary's Hospital in Enid, OK, where he died. Many ribs were broken, One or two legs were broken and hip was broken.

Obituary: MMRW was born 3 May 1929 in Ft. Worth TX. She was the first child of Fred and Eva (Franklin) Roper. She entered into heaven on 12 Feb 1998 after a long and valiant battle with cancer. She was raised on a dairy farm north of Arnett OK and was no stranger to long hours and hard work. After graduating high school in 1947 she married her sweetheart, Roy George Wieden. This union lasted 44 years until Roy's death parted them. Three children were born from this union, Randall Wayne, Roger Scott and Ronda Beth. Marjorie was always active in church and sunday school wherever she lived. She had a strong faith and a sweet spirit and had touched more lives than she would ever know. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Roy, her parents Fred and Eva Roper, a brother Kenneth Lee Roper and a grandson Roy Don Wieden. She is survived by her children Randy Wieden and wife Barbara of Tulsa, Roger Wieden and wife Meri of Owasso, and Ronda Dye and husband Michael of Ochelata, 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother David Roper and wife Jeanne of Blacksburg VA and 2 sisters, Jean Barnett and husband Jack of Arnett OK and Virginia Barker and husband Bill of Woodward OK, many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. Services were held at the First Baptist Church of Owasso with Dr. ROger Ferguson presiding at 10 am Sat 14 Feb 1998. Interment was at the Harmon Cemetery at 2 pm Sun 15 Feb 1998 in Harmon OK, under the direction of Moore Funeral Home, Owasso OK. The family requests donations to the American Cancer Society and Jane Phillips Hospice of Bartlesville, 508 E 5th St, Bartlesville OK 74033.
