Robert, born 1580 he married first Elizabeth Morgan, and second Margaret Winslow. The children of the first marriage were: Thoma s and John; and of the second were Samuel, Ephraim, Lydia, Phebe , Elizabeth, and Daniel.

In 1621, Robert Hicks left his home in Southwark, County Surrey, England, and came to the Plymouth Colony in the ship "Fortune" Nov 11 1621. H e was listed as a leather dresser. He lived as a substantial cit izen of the Puritan Colony. This was the 2nd body of Puritans fo llowing the Mayflower. I wonder if they met aboard ship?

Robert Hicks Robert was born in England and lived in Bermondsey and Southwark in County Surrey, England. Surrey is the county lo cated just southwest of London. He was a fellmonger or leather m aker. The term especially applies to sheep skins. Normally Rober t would pull 300 skins a week but sometimes he could do 600 to 7 00 skins. There seems to be some question about his wife (wives) . Some list his first wife as Elizabeth Morgan who he married ab out 1596. They had four children. He second married Margaret abo ut 1610 and they had five children. Some identify her as Margare t Winslow step-sister of govenor Edward Winslow. Robert came to Plymouth Colony in 1621 aboard the Fortune. Margaret Winslow fol lowed two years later on the Anne. Robert had his will written f or him on May 28, 1645 and died two years later on May 24, 1647. His will in part says;

"In the name of God Amen I Robert hicks of Plymouth this xxviiit h day of may Anno dm 1645 being full of Infermities of body and conssidering the brevity of this mortall life but of very good a nd perfecte memory doe ordaine and make this my last will and Te stament in maner and forme foloing first I give and bequeathe my soule to Almighty god in certaine hope and assurance of a Joyfu ll Reseurection and my body to bee buried in decent maner And as concerning all my wordly goods and estate my mind and will is a s foloweth first I give and bequath unto my soon Ephraim all yt my dwelling house barn and buildings with the gardins therunto b elonging sittuate in plymouth aforsaid; ... my executrix heeraft er named shall have and Enjoy three Romes in the sd house during her life shee keeping her selfe unmarried viz the hall and cham ber over and seller underneath : and allso yt my soon Ephraim sh all pay her the thirds of the sd lands during her life and widdo whood : and lickwise shee shall Enjoy the garden next unto the w atter side with the sd Romes as foresaid ... and fifty [acres] t o John watson there [Seawams or Secunck] allso ... General Notes for Child 'abd Al-Malik Ibn Marwan Caliph Of Damascus

Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan (646 - 705) was an Umayyad caliph. A well-educated man, he was a capable ruler, despite the many political problems that wracked his rule.

Abd al-Malik became caliph after the death of his father in 685. Within a few years, he dispatched armies under Al-Hajjaj bin Yousef on a campaign to reassert Umayyad control over the Islamic empire. Hajjaj first defeated the governor of Basra, he then went on to the Hejaz where Ibn Zubayr was killed, ending his short rule as caliph. Hajjaj's success led Abd al-Malik to make him the governor of Iraq, and give him a free reign in his territories.

Abd al-Malik was effective in increasing the size of the empire. Control over North Africa was reasserted, and construction on the city of Tunis began. Arab armies also took most of Turkestan. These victories paved the way for great expansions under Abd al-Malik's son.

Abd al-Malik instituted many reforms such as: making Arabic the official language of government across the entire empire, instituting a mint that produced a uniform set of currency, expansion and reorganization of postal service, repairing the damaged Kaaba and beginning the tradition of weaving a silk cover for the Kaaba in Damascus.

The Dome of the Rock was also built in Jerusalem, but parts of that city were also destroyed when Abd al-Malik's armies put down an uprising there. The last years of his reign were generally peaceful, and Abd al-Malik would appoint his son al-Walid I as his sucessor, ignoring his father's orders to appoint Abd al-Malik's brother, Abd al-Aziz.

General Notes for Child The Prophet Muhammad

The Prophet Muhammad The line is disputed at Zaida. The Prophet Muhammad traced his ancestry back to Adnan around 100 BC. This looks plausible - I am unsure what the professional consensus on it is. Beyond that, this attempt to link Adnan to the Biblical Abraham is obvious mythology. Apart from anything else, even if Abraham existed, he would have lived something like 2300 BC. This note suggests a descent from The Prophet Muhammad to Aurea, grandmother of Toda Aznarez. But then the web disagrees that the latter left descendants. Further Information:

Mohammed or Mahomet

Sex: Male History: (Western forms of Arabic Muhammad) Life: (c.570-c.632) Founder of Islam, born in Mecca, the son of Abdallah, a poor merchant. Orphaned at six, he was cared for first by his grandfather, then by his uncle, and earned his living by tending sheep. At 25 he led the caravans of a rich widow, whom he later married. He continued as a merchant, but spent much of his time in solitary contemplation. When he was 40, Gabriel appeared to him on Mt Hira, near Mecca, and commanded him in the name of God to preach the true religion. Four years later he was told to come forward publicly as a preacher. The basis of his teaching was the Koran, which had been revealed to him by God. He attacked superstition, and exhorted people to a pious, moral life, and belief in an all-powerful, all-just, and merciful God, who had chosen him as his prophet. God's mercy was principally to be obtained by prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. At first dismissing him as a poet, the Meccans finally rose against him and his followers. He sought refuge at Medina in 622 (the date of the Mohammedan Era, the Hijra), and assumed the position of highest judge and ruler of the city. He then engaged in war against the enemies of Islam. In 630 he took Mecca, where he was recognized as chief and prophet, and thus secured the new religion in Arabia. In 632 he undertook his last pilgrimage to Mecca, and there on Mt Arafat fixed the ceremonies of the pilgrimage (Hajj). He fell ill after his return, and died at the house of the favourite of his nine wives, Aïshah, the daughter of Abu Bakr.
