REFN: 551 Thomas Harris born near "The Forks" of the Pamunkey River. He moved to Amelia Count in 1748 settling on lands between Falling Creek and Buffalo River. This became part of Prince Edward County in 1754. There are recording s of contributions to the revolutionary army dated 1780 and 1781. There are land dealings dated as early as 1723. Patent Book XI, page 223. Once source stated he was born in 1698 and died Feb 16 1784. Supposedly christened at A melia, Va. He was reportedly born by another source in St. Paul's Parish, Hano ver Co., Va. He kept a diary. Since the Hanover County records were burned d uring the Civil War, it is impossible to prove family relationships in that c ounty. The diary, in the possession of the late Lee Harris, Lebanon, Tennesse e, has now become to fragile to use. However, in 1829, Gideon Harris, great grandson of Thomas Harris' brother David, copied part about the family histo ry from the diary.
