 William T. Thorn graduated from the South Carolina Medica l College in 1832. Found in Fitz Hugh McMaster papers at So uth Caroliniana Library, USC:
          "Dr. William Thorne who lived north of Winnsbor o on the road to Blackstock, SC, Fairfield County, was th e son of Capt. Charles Thorne and grandson of Capt. Thoma s Thorne of the Revolutionary War, born in 1735 died 1820 a nd his wife Mary Williams April 26, 1749- April 6, 1847. Ca pt. Thomas Thorne was born in Mecklenburg, Va. then went t o Warren County, N.C. and thence to S.C. as shown by the 17 90 census. He owned vast acres of land at what is now Grea t Falls, Chester County. The Fairfield branch is Dr. Wm. Th orne and his sister Sarah Lundy  wife of James A. McCrorey . They were children of Capt. Charles Thorne and his wife D elilah Gilliam of Granville County, N.C. Dr. William Thorne , 12/28/1808 married Martha Miller daughter of John McCrore y and Molly Peggy Turner. Their sons were William Turner an d John Charles Thorne. William Turner Thorne married France s Douglass daughter of John Douglass and his wife Mary Leth ud Lunsford. Their children were Mary Moore, Martha, Adaliz e, Susan and Fanny wife of Dr. James Adams Hayne of Congare e, S.C. William Turner Thorne was a Lt. in the Confederat e War- Company D, 7th S.C. Cavalry . (A copy of a letter wr itten by Col. A.C. Haskell 7th S.C. Cavalry to the daughte r of William Thorne is at the library.)"
