Dean Barth M.D.  Randy's lungs were not fully developed and he was given resuscitation several times.  He died at 2 a.m. October 5, 1958.  His body was released to the L.L.Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax then transported to Chewelah for burial at the Chewelah Memorial Park on October 8, 1958.

General Notes for Child Gustav Adolph Girnus



March 31, 1997 - Dad died today of a massive heart attack.  Janet called me at work at 5:30 p.m. and said Mom had called her and said that they were doing CPR on Dad but that she was sure it was too late.  I called Janet as soon as I got home from work, and they were just leaving to go see Mom.  About 10 minutes later Dan called me and said that Dad did not make it.  I talked to Mom around 6:45 p.m. and she said that he had gone to the rock shop and when he got home he complained of not feeling good, so she wheeled him into the house and got him into his chair.    She said the Dr. told her at the hospital that he had a massive heart attack. Janet is supposed to call me as soon as they know when the memorial service will be.  They are not going to have a funeral.

The graveside services were on Thursday, April 3rd at 2 p.m.  We all gathered at Mom's after the services to talk about Dad and have some food.  Rob, Diane, Connor & Siobhan all came to Chewelah for the service.

On April 18th there was a service at St Joseph's Chapel for all those who died in the past month at the hospital.  Dad was one of the people remembered at the service.  Mom, Janet, Doreen & I all attended.  Janet lit a candle in Dad's memory and after the service Mom got to take the candle home.[myclean.FTW]

I called Janet as soon as I got home from work, and they were just leaving to go see Mom.  About 10 minutes later Dan called me and said that Dad did not make it.  I talked to Mom around 6:45 p.m. and she said that he had gone to the rock shop and when he got home he complained of not feeling good, so she wheeled him into the house and got him into his chair.    She said the Dr. told her at the hospital that he had a massive heart attack. Janet is supposed to call me as soon as they know when the memorial service will be.  They are not going to have a funeral.

The graveside services were on Thursday, April 3rd at 2 p.m.  We all gathered at Mom's after the services to talk about Dad and have some food.  Rob, Diane, Connor & Siobhan all came to Chewelah for the service.

On April 18th there was a service at St Joseph's Chapel for all those who died in the past month at the hospital.  Dad was one of the people remembered at the service.  Mom, Janet, Doreen & I all attended.  Janet lit a candle in Dad's memory and after the service Mom got to take the candle home.[myclean.FTW]
