Ancestry.com lists Lucretia Dacus as a spouse, but Ida Cornelia Anderson was married to him prior to a marriage to Lucretia. (1880 census, as well as family records, indicate that.) The concensus of the databases on Ancestry.com state his birth date to be 16 Sep. 1853. Also, he is the son of Jesse Lay and Mrya Nicholson. Jesse Lay is the son of James Lay and Elizabeth McKinney. James Lay is the son of Charles Middleton Lay and Nancy Freeman.
