Thanks to Charlotte Anne Kennedy (charanne@3-cities.com), a very thorough pedigree of Rachel GRAVES, wife of Orrin REDFIELD, mother of Sylvanus Graves REDFIELD, has been obtained and entered into the database.
Most interesting, Rachel's maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Redfield, provide a second and connected link to John Alden and Priscilla Mullins.[Downing.ged]

General Notes for Child Sylvanus Graves Redfield
[18401.ged]
According to the Redfield Book, Sylvanus was alive in Twinsburg, Ohio, at th time of the printing of the book in 1860. The 1860 census for Twinsburg, however, shows Esther living alone with sons Richard and Orrin.
E-mail correspondence with James Redfield, great-great grandson of Sylvanus, shows family records indicate that Sylvanus died "en route to Kansas, and is buried i Geneva, Kansas". Later correspondence with Loren Adams, USGenWeb site manager for Allen county, KS, turned up his gravesite. He is buried in Part 1, Row 9, Lot 139 in the Geneva cemetery, Geneva, Kansas. The records show his birth date as September 16, 1798, instead of September 18. I'll stick with the recor in the Redfield book of September 18 until proven otherwise.[Downing.ged]
The year that Sylvanus removed from the family compound in Killingworth to Twinsburg, Summit county, Ohio, is unknown, but the "Genealogical History of th Redfield Family in the United States", printed in 1860, states "He removed to Twinsburg, Ohio, many years ago." According to the Redfield Book, Sylvanus was alive in Twinsburg, Ohio, at the time of the printing of the book in 1860. The 1860 census for Twinsburg, however, shows Esther living alone with sons Richard and Orrin. E-mail correspondence with James Redfield, great-great grandson of Sylvanus, shows family records indicate that Sylvanus died "en route to Kansas in 1859, and is buried in Geneva, Kansas". I'll stick with the record in the Redfield book of September 18 until proven otherwise, although it is possible that September 18 was a baptismal date. There is no marker on the grave. A document found on microfilm in the Family History Library on his son, J.C Redfield, states the following:
"A diary kept by <J.C.> while preempting his claim in Kansas, gives minute details of his trip to Twinsburg for his bride and their coming to Kansas, accompanied by his father, who, being a carpenter and contractor, was going to build them a new house; of the illness contracted by his father enroute, and hi demise the day after reaching their destination." Film 1697428, FHL. This appears to be quoted from a paper written by his daughter, Pearl, sometime between 1912 and 1917.

It appears he had the farm immediately adjacent to that of his brother, Sylvanus Graves Redfield, as that family appears immediately above Josiah's in the censu report.
