    Osorkon II was the fifth king of the Twenty-second Dyn a s t y . There are inscriptions in the hypostyle hall of t h e L ux o r temple that indicate that there was a very hi g h inun dat io n of the Nile during the third year of hi s re ign. Th e in scr iption says, "All the temples of Theb es we re lik e marsh es. " During his twenty-second year, h e cele brate d the Se d Fest ival. He built a granite gatew ay at t he gre at templ e at Bub astis and decorated the ga teway wi th scen es of thi s festiva l. During his reign, t here wa s weaknes s internall y and ther e were threats fro m the As syrians. E gypt's borde rs did no t extend as fa r as they o nce had an d tried to res ist the in creasing p ressures fro m the eas t by joining th e states of P alesti ne and Syria . It is pos sible that a co- regent ruled w it h Osorkon I I named Harsie se, who was the h igh priest o f A mun at The bes. It is poss ible that Harsies e was th e son o f Osorkon .
