Obituary recorded in "The Christian Evangelist" July 21, 1932 Olive Vaughn Griffith "A missionary in India for more than 20 years' Miss Olive Griffith, a missionary in India for more tham 20 years, died at her home, Corvallis, ORe. Her death followed a paralytic stroke which she suffered the previous day. Miss Griffith was born in Indiana, July 17, 1874. She was the daughter of John F. and Margaret Griffith and spent her girlhood years in Indiana. The family later moved to Nebraska. After graduating from High School Miss Griffith attended Nebraska State University, and then prepared for her missionary work at the College of Missions at Indianapolis. She also had one year of special work at the University of Chicago. Miss Griffith went as a Living Link from the First Christian Church of Lincoln, Neb., in 1905, serving continously until 1926 when ill health forced her to give up her missionary work. A fine student, she had traveled extensively to broaden her education and had made two trips around the world. Since her return to the United States had spoken frequently in the Christian Churches of Oregon and the Northwest. Surviving are three sisters: Mrs. Edward D. Smith, Corvallis; Mrs. Edith G. Anderson, Salem, Ore. and Mrs. E. J. Greenfield, Wichita, Kan. The funeral services were conducted by Mr. Albyn Esson, and the remains laid to rest in the Belcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Salem, Ore. Presley Griffith Presley Griffith, son of William and Eliza Campbell Griffith, was born September 10, 1842 and departed this life September 24, 1923, aged 81 years, 14 days. He served his country during the Cilil War. He was united in marriage to Susan M. Parmer and to this union were born six children, two of whom died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Mabel McClain, who died in 1920. Three children are left to mourn the loss of a father, Ernest Griffith, Mrs. Cora Burgett, and Maude Griffith. Fourteen grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Elzora Collins, two brothers, Calvin and William Griffith also survive. Mrs. Griffith died seven years ago. Mr. Griffith was always active in the work of the Rocklane Christian Church as long as health permitted him to attend and even when he could no longer attend his thoughts were with the church and its activities. Just two weeks before his death, loving hands brought him to the church in his wheelchair in the afternoon of the annual homecoming. Although Mr. Griffith could not talk, his face and eyes showed that he enjoyed meeting his friends once more and of being in the church which he loved and served so many years. Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday morning. Rev. I. J. Kerrick read the obituary and passage of scripture, Rev. Mullendore gave a short talk and Rev. Glick made the prayer. Mrs. Glenna Lancaster, Miss Mary Tilson, John Overstreet and John Kinnick sang three selections. Gleen Burgett, Mary Esther Burgett, Mary Ann McClain, Margaret McClain, Elizabeth Griffith, Roy McClain, Hubert and Paul Burgett, John Patterson and Burris Grubb, Grandsons, were the Pall Bearers. BIO: A TRIBUTE TO MRS. P. R. GRIFFITH The funeral services of Mrs. P.R. Griffith were held at the Griffith home Tuesday at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Griffith was born near Rocklane and spent her entire life in the vicinity of her birth. She was one of the kindest, most patient and beloved of women. She lived among us the friend of all. For almost a half-century, she with her husband, lived in helpful companionship and wrought together, building a home for themselves, their children and their friends; for theirs was a hospitable home where neighbors and friends were always welcome. When we had sung the songs and read the scriptures that she loved and spoken words of appreciation and comfort, we laid her to rest among the shrubbery and the trees of the beautiful cemetery at Greenwood. BIO: MRS. CORA BURGETT DIES EARLY MONDAY Funeral Thursday at Church in Rocklane
Greenwood, April 8--Mrs. Cora A. Griffith Burgett, age 75, widow of Tillus A. Burgett, died at 3:15 o'clock Monday at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Hubert Burgett, southeast of Greenwood. She had been in failing health for some time and seriously ill for the past two weeks. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Rocklane Christian church. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the home of Mrs. Hubert Burgett after 6 o'clock Tuesday evening and are invited to attend the services. Mrs. Burgett was born in Clark township November 6, 1870, the daughter of Presley R. and Susan M. Parmer Griffith, and lived her entire life in the vicinity where she died. In 1899, she was united in marriage to Tillus A. Burgett, who preceded her in death in 1920. Of the five children born to this union, four are living. They are Mrs. Lena Patterson of Shelbyville; Paul Burgett of Rocklane; Mrs. Mary Esther Morrical of Columbus, Ohio; and Glenn Burgett, who is with the U.S. Army in China. A son, Hubert Burgett, died a few years ago. Several grandchildren also survive. The son, Paul Burgett, is a patient in Methodist Hospital following an appendectomy. OBITUARY: EARNEST GRIFFITH
Funeral services were held for Earnest Harry Griffith Monday afternoon at his home east of Greenwood. Rev. Charles E. Mull and Rev. V. J. Murray were in charge. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Pall bearers were Victor Griffith, Charles Wright, Omer Lyons, John Kinnick, Dale Nay and William Rypma. The flowers were carried by girls from Clark township high school.
Mr. Griffith, age 59 years, died Saturday morning 11 o'clock of heart disease. He had been ill about three years. The deceased was born on July 28, 1873, on a farm in Clark township and spent most of his life there. He was a son of Pressly R. and Mollie Griffith.
On July 29, 1896. he married Alice Wright and to this union five children were born: Mrs. Letta Grubb of Rocklane, Clara Griffith, deceased, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, Indianapolis, Miss Mary Olive Griffith, at home and John Griffith, at home.
Mr. Griffith was a member of the Rocklane church. His father died in 1923 and his mother in 1916.
Mr. Griffith is survived by the widow, four children and six grandchildren, Katherine and Stanley Smith of Indianapolis, Jean, Alice, Ernest, Martha Grubb of Rocklane; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Burgett and Miss Maude Griffith, both of Rocklane.

Miss Maude Griffith, Age 53, Heart Victim Funeral services to be held Tuesday Morning at Home Greenwood, May 2, 1938---Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the home, four miles southeast of Greenwood, for Maude Griffith, 53, who died suddenly at the home of a niece, Mrs. Burl Copeland, where Miss Griffith had been on account of the illness of Mrs. Copeland. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Miss Griffith was one of the charter members of the Clark High School Alumni Association, formed twenty-seven years ago. She had missed only one meeting of the organization since its founding and had planned to attend the annual affair Saturday night at the school. She had been a member of the Rocklane Christian Church since girlhood and was a charter member of the missionary society. She was born in Indianapolis on Feb. 18, 1885 and was the daughter of the late Presley R. and Susan Mary Parmer Griffith. She moved to the Rocklane community with her family when a baby and has resided there ever since. She had lived with her sister, Mrs. Cora Burgett, who survives. The deceased was graduated from Clark High School with the class of 1902 and received her M.B. degree from Franklin College in 1907. She was a teacher of piano from 1907 to 1921. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Charles Mull. pastor of the Rocklane Christian Church. Survivors are the sister, Mrs. Cora Burgett; Mrs. Alice Griffith, a sister-in-law and H. B. McClain, a brother-in-law, all of Rocklane. Twelve nieces and nephews and twenty grand nieces and nephews also remain. A brother, Earnest, died in 1932, and a sister, Mable, in 1920. Another brother and sister died in infancy. A beautiful life was taken fron us a few days ago, that of Miss Maude Griffith, "Aunt Maude" to many in the community. She will live on in the memory of all who knew her because of her acts of kindness to everyone, her devotion to her family and church.
