Helen L. Houser, 86, 209 E. Seventh St., Portland, died this morning in AmeriCare Living Center, Portland.
Born in Portland on Jan. 20, 1917, to Willis H. and Iris (Spencer) Hanlin, she was a 1934 graduate of Portland High School.
She married Wendell Houser on Dec. 28, 1935. He died on Oct. 27, 1984.
She belonged to the Wesleyan Circle and the Homemakers class at Asbury United Methodist Church, Portland, where she was a member.
She was a training director for the Jay Garment Corp., Portland, for 44 years before retiring.
Surviving are one daughter, Wendy L. Shuttleworth, Portland; a sister, Mrs. Wayne (Pat) Weaver, Mattoon, Ill.; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
Services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home, Portland, with Pastor Keith Olson presiding.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Twin Hills Cemetery, Pennville.
Visitation is Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
