Daniel Sanford, joined for duty and enrolled at Anderson on May 31,1861; Muster into confederate service at Columbia SC June 7, 1861; Attached to hospital as a cook on August 17, 1861; Re enlisted for two yearsor the war on February 7, 1862; He served in company C, 4th regiment SC volunteers. He was then assigned to, Company L, 1st. Palmetto Sharp Shooters ( Jenkins' ) Regiment. ( The 1st. Palmetto Sharp Shooters Regiment, was composed mainly of men who had prior service in the, 4th., 5th., and 9th., South Carolina Regiments.
