Claude mustered out on 30 Nov 1898. Claude listed his place of residence as Fairfield, Iowa a t the time of his enlistment. One of his military records shows that he furhished his own sub sistance for 42 days. He was due 50 cents for arms and equipment. He was sick in quarters from June 20, 1898 to the 22 of Jun, "disease contracted in line of duty on furloug h from Sep 20 to Oct 20 1898 per G.O. (General Order) 130 A.G.O extended to Nov 1st, 1898 b y telegraphic order from A.G.O. dated Oct 17 1898. Reported for duty at Des Moines, Iowa Nove . 1-1898. In the settlement for clothing is included the sum of $0.55 the total value of articles issued him by the State.
