Hi Sandy,
Nice to meet another cousin. Most researchers agree that David was not the father of Richar d. This information was based on the Horn paper of Greene Co. PA which was later revealed to b e fraudalent. Richard's parents were Richard Ancrum Sr. and Mary Ashman. I have this information on my web site plus some newly published Ankrom tales. Take a look!

Per the notes of M. Fenimore: Richard Ankrom Jr also settled on the Tenmile, but a few miles west of Fort Jackson, taking t itles to several tracts of land, including "The Square" on Purseley Creek and Newburn and Ems worth between Purseley and Smith Creeks. From the sale of this land we know that he and wife, Ruth ?, went to Tyler County (now in WV) (Green Co, Pa Deed Book 3, pp 605). They sol d their land to John Burkhamer. On March 3, 1802, they sold "Emsworth" to Elizabeth Cree. Whe n Richard Ankrom Jr died in Tyler, Co, WV, he mentions only his son, John, by name, giving hi m the home place, stating he had already taken care of the other children, whose names are no t listed. Re: Family records.Burial is in the Beechwood cemetery

From the notes of M. Fenimore: Individual: Jacob settled on land now know as the Old County Infirmary Farm in Tyler County, West Virgini a. He had a cabin and a larger house remained there for may years. Jacobs will names his wif e Nancy and bequeaths property to daughter Rachel: 'a Negro girl Cade, two beds and bedding; one bureau; two cows; five sheep and two hogs to be given to her on the date o f her marriage or at the death of his wife. He also wished that at this wife's death, two Neg ro girls named Gin and Sally were to be set free. His son William was bequeathed a Negro boy named Sam to serve William as long as William and the said boy lived and then to be set free . Jacob mentioned his other children, Richard, Jacob Jr, Elizabeth, Mary, Delilah, Rachel, Ma rgaret, and the children of Cassa Bowman. The will was dated 1 Oct 1823 and was proved in Mar ch of 1824. Jacob signed his will Jacob "D" making his mark with a "D". The witnesses to th e will were William Ankrom, Arthur Ingram, and Joseph Archer. Jacobs head stone, although bad ly worn, reads: I : Say Repent for: Death is: at Hand In: Memory Jacob: Ankrom SENR: Died Oct: 11: 1823

Levi Sr. Apparently all children were born unto Elizabeth C. Haney. Perhaps only three of Levi's children recognized Sarah Ann Pickett as their mother as only th ree were mentioned in her will. 40-year employee with pipeline company Robert G. Ankrom, 70, of Washington R.D.4, Amwell Town ship, died at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 1997, at home.
He was born May 18, 1927, in Jefferson Township, Greene County, a son of Charles Winfield an d Charlottie Phillips Ankrom.
Mr. Ankrom live most of his life in Washington and Greene counties and was a member of Jeffer son Baptist Church and a former member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church.
He was a 40-year member of Local 66 International Operating Engineers, a member of Waynesbur g Elks Lodge 757, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 461 in Waynesburg, James Farrell American Legio n Post 330 and VFW Post 4793, both of Waynesburg, Masonic Lodge F&AM 153 and Syria Temple AAO NMS.
Mr. Ankrom was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Marines.
Working through the International Operating Engineers, he worked for various construction com panies. The majority of his time was with Pace Pipeline, Delmont, retiring after 40 years i n 1992.
His first wife, Helen Buckingham Ankrom, died April 26, 1982.
On June 12, 1986, he married Beatrice Smith Barnhart Ankrom, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Amos of Jackson, N.J.; three sons, Phillip S. Buckin gham of Langeloth, John R. Ankrom of Waynesburg and David G. Ankrom of Boyertown; three steps ons, Shirl Barnhart of Clarksville, Duncan and William Barnhart, both of Carmichaels; 13 gran dchildren, Cheryl DeAngelo, Kevin Amos, Nicholas, Nathan, Alex and Lyddia April Louise Ankrom, Tammie Moore, Eric Buckingham, Melissa, Rebecca, Matthew, Katie a nd Paige Barnhart; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Martha Whittington of Charleston , W.Va., and Dorothy McNeely of Jefferson.
