His funeral was held after the de ath of his mother as she would not allow a funeral without a body in hopes that some how he h ad just not made it home.Wallace was lost on 1 May 1943 on his first mission in the Carribean during World War II. He was a staff Sargeant and a pilot. He was a tail gunner when shot down .
