BIOGRAPHY: James conducted a grocery and produce store in Genoa, New York for afew years, and then returned to Holden, Ma., where he spent the remainder of his life.  He did much trade with the Indians and was poplar with them.  They called him the "big white chief", and he often visited them in their homes.
