General Notes (Husband)



"By summer of 1870, W.E. Holcombe had moved his family from Oconee County to the same section of town, erecting a house on Lot No. 15.  At the time of the division of Pickens District in 1868, Washington Earle Holcombe, an attorney, acted as a Special Commissioner of Oconee County.  Earlier at Old Pickens, he served in various government posts and was active in the politics of the new County of Pickens.  Holcombe married Elizabeth C. Robinson, a sister of Mrs. James E. Hagood.  In 1875, Holcombe moved to Easley, after which he moved to Liberty to become the first Intendant of that newly-incorporated town in 1876.  Holcombe died in Georgia in 1888."
