"Aged Man Burns To Death Last Thursday Night"
Lee A. Arthur, 82, Dies as Flames Destroy Home On Grassy Creek.
Lee A. Arthur, 82-year-old retired farmer and widower, was burned to death last Thursda y evening about 7 o'clock when fire destroyed his home on Grassy Creek, where he lived alone.
Neighbors heard the aged man scream and ran to the home but were unable to enter the bui lding because of the flames. The fire is thought to have started from a defective flue or a n overheated stove.
Mr. Arthur was born in Webster County, November 12, 1863, and spent his entire life here . He was a member of the Baptist church. His wife, Mrs. Patricia Arthur, is deceased.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Church, at Orndoff by t he Rev. Henry DODRILL of Diana. Interment was in the church cemetery with Dodd and Hurt Fune ral Home in charge.
