BIO: Elsie fought a long battle with cancer. Her illness began several years before her death (probably in the 1970s); she would receive treatment, and the disease would go into remission for a while.  After several months, or in some cases even a few years, it would surface again; she would receive more treatment, it would seem to retreat once more, then reappear.  Finally in the spring of 1993 the cancer returned to claim her life in mid-July.
