When Benjamin was married to Carrie Amanda Rendle his age was given as 29 years and his address was197,Eversley Rd.Battersea London.His profession wasa Mercantile clerk. Carrie Amandas address was 18 St. Philips Street Battersea.He was known to have organised "Smoking concerts" where he was known as "the Great Ben Halley" There is a photograph of him standing at the Box Office in my Family frame of Hurren's.

The witnesses of the marriage between Carrie Amanda and Benjamin were Edgar Arthur Rendle and Louisa Esther Rendle.Her father John William Gardner Rendle was a musician, a violinist and at the age of 8 or 9 years he was commanded to appear before Her Royal Highness Queen Victoria. I have in my possession copies of the newspapers reports at the event which say he played the violin with "surprising accuracy and precision, producing tones of exquisite sweetness and expression" Dated June 1850.On December 22nd.1851 he was again commanded to appear at Buckingham Palace to play for Her Majesty and Prince Albert.

MR - 932-144 reg# 020027 (1909) - Robert's mother is listed as Mary Ann. Robert came from Bolsover, Ont. in 1902. He filed his homestead in Solheim District SE 10-2-11. After proving his homestead, in 1907 he bought his brother John's homestead and John returned to Carnduff. Taxes on his quarter section in 1904-05 was four dollars by 1907 taxes on his half section were only four dollars and eighty cents a year. Bob Stanley baked bread and made many a meal for his bachelor friends in those early days, his past experience cooking in railroad camps in earlier days was a big help. In 1909 he took a trip back home to Bolsover and returned with his bride, the former Bertha Hurren. He farmed with horses and in 1912 had the misfortune of his horses getting Glanders, and sixteen horses and colts died or were destroyed a great loss and discouragement in those times. For a number of years Robert Stanley was weed inspecter for Cambria municipality, first with horse and buggy and later a Model T Ford. Both Robert and Bertha were staunch supporters of advancement in the district, telephone and school were built. Church services were held first in homes then in Solheim School. Mrs Stanley died in 1926 . The family remained on the farm till Robert's death in 1937, after which they moved to Melita, Man..
