Edwin only weighed 4 pounds at birth. He was placed in a shoeboxlined with cotton and kept warm in the oven of the wood burningstove.He grew up to be 5"ll" and weighed 160 lbs. He played footballin highschool in Bixby, Oklahoma. He married Genevieve Taylor, hishighschool sweetheart on May 29, 1937 in Clovis, New Mexico. He workedasa bank teller earning $125.00/mo. He later bought a Phillipsservicestation. After his brother Darwin returned from Europe, havingservedin the Army Railroad Battalion, they began selling used carsandeventually bought the Chrysler Plymouth dealership in Clovis andnamedit Ingram Brothers. Edwin farmed several sections of land in theareaaround Clovis during this time of their partnership. He alsoownedand operated the John Deere Store. One of his employeesdeveloped theChrysler industrial engine for the deep water wells theydrilled onthe High Plains of New Mexico. These wells were sometimes600' deepand required two of these big engines to pump the water fromthatdepth. The partnership bought the Phillips Petroleum jobbershipinClovis after selling the car dealership and the Implementbusiness.Edwin did not have enough to do in the petroleum business sohe gothis realtor's licence and he and Gen moved to Albuquerque wherehe wasa very successful realtor. After retirement he and Gen movedback toClovis. His health was not good for the last years of hislife. Hehad small vessel disease and succumbed to gangrene of thefoot in1991.
